How the Wheelset Finder works

How does the Wheelset Finder choose?

It uses one formula for every brand. Four criteria are calculated from published specifications: aero profile, low weight, tyre versatility and handling profile. Where you ride sets how much each one counts, and your priorities shift that balance. Brands, budget and the optional details only filter the list; they add nothing to a wheelset’s fit. One exception: when you name the tyre width you ride, tyre-width headroom beyond it no longer counts. Every wheelset shows its fit as % of your best match, rounded down. Price never changes the fit either: when two wheelsets show the same fit, the lower price is listed first, and we show the lowest price among the closest matches. In “All matches”, the wheelsets of the top group show warranty and crash replacement; they add nothing to the fit. How we score

Do brands pay to be listed or ranked higher?

No. No brand pays for placement, and brand names play no part in the formula. Some links to manufacturer websites are referral links. They are disclosed in our legal notice and have no influence on which wheelsets are shown, in which order, or how they fit.

How many wheelsets are compared?

127 road disc wheelsets from 15 brands. A wheelset with an open data check stays visible in the Wheelset Explorer, but is not ranked here until its figures are confirmed.

Are the prices live?

No. Each price is one observed price per pair from our regular price check, shown with the month it was checked. It is not a live offer, so please check the current price before you buy. Your budget filters by this price.

Will it fit my bike?

The Wheelset Finder compares wheelsets; it does not check your frame. All wheelsets here are for disc brakes. Before you buy, check tyre width and clearance, axle standards, freehub body and rotor mount for your bike. Hookless rims need an approved tyre and pressure. The optional details let you filter by tyre width, rim type, spokes and bearings.
